New Portable Word Processor

This product has the most intuitive user interface
I’ve ever seen in a word processor, and features

  • symbols and international character sets
  • integration of graphics
  • encrypted documents

Something that struck me as a bit odd, is the lack of undo and delete in the basic version. And the product website presents quite an impressive list of features, but also a list of drawbacks, such as the lack of HTML or LaTeX export. But you should really go see for yourself ;-)

You Know Everyone by 7 Hops

Seems Orkut is implementing new features. For a short time tonight, it displayed one’s relationship path to a person not only if that person is a friend of a friend, but also if the person is a friend of a friend of a friend, and so on, up to 5 or 6 hops away! Too bad the server went back to the usual combination of error messages and re-logins soon after, and the feature disappeared again :-(

Time for a Change

After two years with the same layout, it’s time for a change! And since NanoBlogger is the only offline content management system I really liked so far, the change comes with a blog …

Alright, I admit it. I wanted to try blogging for a while now o:-)

Anyway, I already added some content while fighting the technical problems of getting the new site up and running, so it’s not really empty here right now. Most of the material from the old site should also be on the new site; if something is missing, let me know.

Much of the website will be in English, though I will post in German when I expect readers to be most likely German-speaking. You may notice that, due to space constraints on tuxtina.de, some parts of this site are currently hosted on another account. Expect those URLs to change in the near future.

Well, enjoy, and tell me what you think :-)

Crunch Time Essentials

If you’re studying for exams right now, you’ll need this!
Lockout (Linux) to keep you from spending too much time online, and Pizza Cooker 2.0 (Mac OS X) to at least prevent your from burning your pizza if you get caught up surfing anyway ;-)

Lights Out :-)

I guess someone tripped over a major cable last night: street lights went off in most of Stuttgart sometime between 11 pm and midnight and stayed off for more than 2 hours. Versatel’s webcam documented the whole event:

Lights on ...

... lights off!
